My name is Chris Adams, I am a student blogger at ESU (East Stroudsburg University). Through these blogs i will help you have a better understanding of the Sami people. i will go into their history, cosmos Diaspora Cultural survival and much more. i hope that you learn a lot from this and it opens your mind to another world.

Since prehistoric times, the Sami people of arctic Europe have inhabited an area that stretches over the regions Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia. they settled down in northern arctic and subarctic regions of Fenno Scandinavia for at least 5000 years. they had 11 languages but the number has dropped, they speak the language depending on the region in which they live for example Swedish if they live in Sweden. This culture or group of people is one of the oldest to be found in northern Norway. Putting into consideration where they live there is little or no vegetation there so they resided to the hunting and gathering lifestyle. Their style of fishing, hunting and trade was preserved till the middle ages, but they branched of once they saw the modern style of the Nordic countries, some of these styles being: Finnish, Norwegian nynorsk and many more. They have made major changes to their lifestyle in the past 200 years, incorporating politics and economics into their way of life.
